I’m excited to be a candidate for a seat on the Marblehead School Committee
I’m an attorney, an active member of the Marblehead school community, and a mother of four. Great schools brought my family to Marblehead and I have a track record of volunteering my time and skills supporting and improving the Marblehead schools. Over the past nine years, I have served on the boards of the Coffin Gerry, Village, and Brown School PTOs. In 2018-19, I co-chaired the successful Vote Yes for MHD Kids campaign, which secured funding for the construction of the Brown School.
June 10 offers an opportunity to change the trajectory of the Marblehead Public Schools
After a tumultuous few years, we need school committee members who are focused on fostering stability and rebuilding confidence in school district leadership. I believe that this can be done through a commitment to good governance: leadership by example, fiscal responsibility, and prioritizing students and teachers over petty politics.
Marblehead’s focus should be our schools, not our school committee
Good things are happening in our schools every day; they should be celebrated and used as a model to move our district forward. We also face challenges, including attracting and retaining educators in a competitive market, addressing the lingering social/emotional and educational impacts of the pandemic, improving our special education programming, and maximizing our limited financial resources to address a wide range of district needs. I am committed to facing those challenges head on with respectful, constructive dialogue, consensus building rather than finger pointing, and decisions that prioritize meeting the needs of Marblehead students. These good governance practices are the foundation of success in the Marblehead Public Schools.
